GREECE: GETTING THERE
BY AIR
FROM NORTH AMERICA
At this moment Olympic Airways
offers direct non-stop flights to and from Athens, daily from New York City. Olympic Airways Operates also flights from Boston.
Delta Air Lines operates daily non-stop flights between Athens and New York (JFK). Delta Air Lines will operate seasonal direct flights 4 times weekly between Athens and Atlanta.
Direct flights also operate from major European cities to "Macedonia" International Airport in Thessaloniki in Northern Greece, as well as to Corfu (Kerkira), Grete and Rhodes.
FROM AUSTRALIA
Flights to Athens are offerd daily from Perth and Sydney and several
times weekly from Brisbane and Melbourne by Alitalia
via Bangkok and Rome; KLM
Royal Dutch Airlines via Singapore and Amsterdam; Olympic Airways
via Bangkok and by Lufthansa.
AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION
The new Athens International Airport is located 27 km northeastern of Athens and can be rapidly accessed via a six-lane motorway and public transport - express airport bus on a 24 h basis - from Athens center and the port of Piraeus.
Arriving at the airport
By Bus: There are three bus itinereries dedicated to carry passengers to and from the airport:
Line E94: connects the Ethniki Amina Metro Station with the Airport. Passengers can transfer from the Metro line to the Airport Bus at this departure point.

Line E 95: Syntagma Square - Airport Express has its departure point at the center of Athens (Syntagma Square) and via Vas. Sofias Avenue, Mesogion Avenue and Attiki Odos terminates at the airport.

Line E96: Pireaus - Airport Express starts from the center of Pireaus (Karaiskaki Square) and via Posidonos Avenue, Varis-Varkizas, and Varis-Koropiou Roads terminates at the airport.

For Express Lines E94-E95-E96, the ticket costs 1.000 GRD (Euro 2.93) and is valid for 24 hours on all public transport means (buses, trolley-buses and metro). The monthly ticket cards are also valid on the above three lines and cost 12.000 GRD (Euro 32.21). For those meeting certain requirements, a discounted monthly card is also available for 6.000 GRD (Euro 17.60).
KTEL Express line "Athens Airport - Port of Rafina":
The line operates on a daily basis, from 06:00 to 21:20, with itineraries scheduled every 40 minutes. The new Express bus route has only one stop, at the area of Loutsa.
The ticket price is GRD 1,000 per single fare to/ from the Port of Rafina, and GRD 500 from Loutsa to Athens Airport/ Port of Rafina. The cost of a monthly card of unlimited fares is GRD 11,000.
The bus route's terminal is located at the Arrivals level/ northern gate Nr. 5 of Athens International Airport «Eleftherios Venizelos» and its end at the KTEL parking area of the Port of Rafina
By Taxi: Taxis will be unloading the passengers on the designated areas of the departure level at the main terminal.
Final prices for getting to/from the airport have not yet been defined. Still, the tariff to the airport is single and not double.
Departing from the airport
By Bus: All buses depart from the designated area on the inner curbside of the arrivals level of the Main Terminal Building exactly outside the Schengen Exit (doors 4-5)
By Taxi: The taxi queue will start from Door 4 of the Arrivals Level and extend up to Door 1.
By Car: Private cars can use the outer curbside of the arrivials level for embarkation. Extensive signage is available on the Attiki Odos for the junctions leading to the southern suburbs, and the rest of the destinations.

BY AUTOMOBILE
Those wishing to drive to Greece have the option either: To ferry their cars across to one of the country's major ports or, to enter the country overland. The points of entry are:
- Yugoslavia - Evzoni, 550 km to Athens
- Yugoslavia - Niki, 633 km to Athens
- Bulgaria - Promahonas, 736 km to Athens
- Turkey - Kastania, 985 km to Athens
- Turkey - Kipi, 892 km to Athens.
All five border stations mentioned above operate on 24 hour service basis.
